Ant-Man

Ant-Man
Genre:Action, Comedy
Starring: Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Anthony Mackie, Judy Greer, Michael Peña
2015

Review
Ant-Man is the latest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Story is Hank Pym (Douglas), the original Ant-Man, recruits Scott Lang (Rudd) to help save the world from yet another bad guy (Stoll). Obviously, if you are a fan of the MCU and the loosely intertwined storyline, you will be a fan of this movie. That being said, it would be entertaining as a stand alone film. This movie, while not completely kid unfriendly, is not wholesome, exactly. There is a good mix of action and comedy, as one might expect from a Paul Rudd film but neither outshines the other. It is an all around good film.

Review
This series is a Syfy original series. This is the studio that brought you Sharknado, so keep that in mind. This series may not get the chance it deserves because of the joke of a movies that have come from this channel. The show is a fast paced action set in a zombie apocalypse. There is plenty of humor to break the tension, mostly intentional. There is a fair amount of attachment to some of the characters and their stories. This show will be compared to The Walking Dead for obvious reasons. It is not a fair comparison as they are set in different timelines. and universes. It is more fast paced and bit more B-Horror like the older zombie movies. One could easily love both shows though they are each unique from each other. This show is only on the first season and is worth a watch.

History of Future Folk

The History of Future Folk
Genre: Comedy, Sci-Fi
Starring: Nils d'Aulaire, Jay Klaitz, Julie Ann Emery, April L. Hernandez, Dee Snider
2012

Review
Honestly, before watching this movie, I had never heard of Future Folk. Apparently, that does not matter when it comes to enjoying this film. The characters are enjoyable, the premise is fresh, and the music is great. The hero of planet Hondo and his new friend make a great duo. One great aspect of this film is the ability to cross gender preferences. In other words, this would make a good movie to watch with your boyfriend or girlfriend. It has the potential for both to enjoy. This movie is not a huge blockbuster that everyone has heard of, but if you get a chance to watch this movie, please do so.

The To Do List

The To Do List
Genre: Comedy
Starring: Aubrey Plaza, Johnny Simmons, Bill Hader, Alia Shawkat, Scott Porter, Rachel Bilson, Donald Glover, Andy Samberg, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Connie Britton, Clark Gregg
2013

Review
This comedy has quite a few recognizable faces. Starring Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation)as an uptight high school graduate set on loosening up. Plaza is backed up by such notables as Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live), Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development), and Donald Glover (Community). That is about half of the faces you may recognize in this film. Aside from the great casting, the film had some really funny moments. The premise is fresh in an industry in which people are constantly remarking on the lack of creativity. If you enjoy any of the actors mentioned above and their typical roles, this movie will be an good match for you.

Dead Man Down

Dead Man Down
Genre: Action, Thriller
Starring: Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace, Terrence Howard, Dominic Cooper
2013

Review
Colin Farrell stars as a enforcer for a gang in this thriller. There is plenty of action for those who seek that type of film, which considering you sought out a review for this film, is right up your alley. Surprisingly, most of these characters show some humanity which makes the action ever a little more exciting.Even if you are not a fan of Colin Farrell, this movie may be worth watching if you like action movies. If you find yourself trying find a movie to watch, give this one a chance. Chances are you won't finish it feeling like you wasted your time.

Saints Row IV

Saints Row IV
Genre: Action, Sci-Fi, RPG
2013

Review

Saints Row is back for fourth installment. The amount of customization of the character is always a plus for this series. Also, as always, there plenty of Easter eggs and references that should result in a chuckle or two. There is tons to do in the sandbox. The amount of play time that can be invested in the game is impressive. The plot is a little over the top, which is what I think they were going for in this game. It is seems the game uses the plot to get away with more of the cartoonish mayhem from Saints Row: The Third. Really, the only downside to the game is the amount of ridiculousness with the plot, but that is a personal preference. I would recommend it to most anyone who likes getting bang for their buck or is a fan of the series.

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games
Genre: Sci-Fi, Action
Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Donald Sutherland
2012

Review
This movie is based on the books and is the first of the soon to be released follow-ups. Considering the one-sided fan demographic breakdown of films like Twilight, this movie is probably overlooked by men. It is leaps and bounds better for men than the Twilight series. That being said, there should be no true comparisons between these two films. Considering it is pretty gender neutral, it is a good movie for couples. It is not exactly romantic but will entertain just the same. This movie is worth checking out.
